Well, I understand how you feel. In fact, many of the students who’ve come to me have been just like you. They don’t know where to go, and they aren’t making any progress.
They see others who make it look easy and they don’t understand what’s wrong with them. Why can’t they play guitar? The traditional step afterwards is to begin to blame their fingers, coordination, or something else that they can’t change, just so they don’t feel bad.

The second problem with the YouTube method is that you have to teach yourself, but you don’t have the background or knowledge with which to do so. Thus, you have to learn through trial-and-error. If you buy books randomly on a whim, you’ll be going in a direction that may or may not be in your best interests. Books and subscription services expand the scope of your musical maze. However, you still lack the necessary skills, tools, and guidance to navigate it.
I’ve had many students come to me whose guitar teachers taught song after song for YEARS! However, this doesn’t work. At Rochester’s School of Guitar, we believe that songs are important, but we also believe that they can’t be the only thing you learn or focus on. Song-only instruction may be a step up from Youtube, but learning song after song will never make you a good guitar player.

The secret to your ability to play the guitar lies in your patience. You need to be patient with yourself. There’s a beginner bump until the 6-to-8 month mark, and if you’re patient enough to make it that long, you will be a guitar player.
I will personally make sure that you stay persistent and dedicated to yourself so that you can reach your target with ease.
Learning how to play guitar will take just as long as it needs to. Everyone is different and has different challenges, but anyone who stays on the path ultimately gets what they came for. My lessons are designed to allow you to work at your own pace and to challenge you at your own specific level.
You’re never too old to learn how to play the guitar. Are there a couple of hurdles to learning guitar that appear when you’re older? Yes, there are some. You’ve been using/manhandling your hands for a long time now, and you’ve probably developed some bad habits, but that shouldn’t upset you.
There is no reason that you can’t become a good guitar player. I have special programs for older students that can whips their hands into shape and get them moving. If you really want it, you can learn to play.
The answer to this question is a resounding “YES”. The traditional methods of guitar instruction don’t keep a student motivated to practice-that’s very true. However, Rochester’s School of Guitar has a method to do just that.

Of course you can. Rochester’s School of Guitar proudly provides guitar lessons for Rochester and all surrounding areas. For example, some of my students drive all the way from Batavia and Canandaigua on a regular basis. That’s easily a 1-hour round-trip drive.
All of the lessons times are flexible. You will be able to take lessons at your own convenience. Frequently having to go out of town often shouldn’t deter you from taking lessons. In fact, I can guarantee that Rochester’s School of Guitar will provide you with the most flexible lesson schedule compared to any of the the other providers of guitar lessons in Rochester.
