2. I see this page focuses primarily on beginners. Do you only teach beginning guitar players? In addition, what styles do you teach?
I teach all levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. The focus of this page is on beginners because there are more of them. As far as styles are concerned, I do teach primarily contemporary styles of music, my focus lies on Rock, Pop, Blues and Metal guitar.
3. What if I’m not sure that I’m capable of playing guitar?
This is just in your head. Without even meeting you, I can tell you that you can become the guitar player you want to become. I know and have met many great guitar players of all shapes and sizes—big fingers, long fingers and small fingers. They all played well.
The secret to your ability to play guitar lies in your patience. You need to be patient with yourself. There’s a beginner bump until the 6 to 8 month mark. If you’re patient enough to make it that long, you will be a guitar player.
I will personally make sure you stay persistent and dedicated to yourself so that you can reach that target with ease.
4. How long will this take?
Learning guitar will take as long as it needs to. Everyone is different and has different challenges, but anyone who stays on the path ultimately gets what they came for. My lessons are designed to allow you to work at your own pace and to challenge you at your own specific level.
5. Am I too old to learn guitar?
You’re never too old to learn how to play guitar. Are there a couple of setbacks to learning guitar when you’re older? Yes, there are some. You’ve been using/man handling your hands for a long time now and you’ve probably developed some bad habits, but that shouldn’t upset you.
There is no reason that you can’t become a good guitar player. I have special programs for older students that whips their hands into shape and gets them moving. If you really want it, you can learn to play.
6. When I was learning before, I struggled to stay motivated, and eventually, I didn’t practice at all. Will these lessons help keep me motivated?
The answer to this question is a BIG FAT “YES”. The traditional methods of guitar instruction don’t keep a student motivated to practice. That’s very true. However, Rochester’s School Of Guitar has a method to do just that.
There are programs you may join if you really want to play guitar, but lack the motivation or the discipline to practice regularly on your own. If this is your main problem, I encourage you to contact me and schedule a free introductory lesson where we can discuss the matter in more detail.
7. I don’t live in Rochester. Can I still take lessons?
Of course, you can. Rochester’s School Of Guitar proudly provides guitar lessons for Rochester and all surrounding areas. Some of my students drive all the way from Batavia and Canandaigua on a regular basis. That’s easily a 1 hour roundtrip drive.
8. I’m very busy. Sometimes I work later than other days and I often go out of town for a week at a time. Will I still be able to take lessons?
All lessons times are flexible. You will be able to take lessons at your own convenience. Going out of town often shouldn’t deter you from taking lessons.
